Helix is proud to introduce the first stepped core intercooler for the BMW 135i & 335i. This intercooler design is unique in that it has a bigger frontal ambient face combined with thicker-than-stock core that seals off to the radiator fan/shroud. The cast end tanks have factory mounting points and factory charge pipe angles. Installation is pretty straight forward and does not require removal of the front bumper.
This intercooler has 56% more core volume than stock and 56% more Ambient face than stock. Installation is straightforward and does not require removal of the
front bumper. In rare circumstances, very minor trimming of the plastic
shroud may be necessary depending on which model you have, but this is
rare. Two sets of hands are ususally all that is needed for a trim-free
installation.
Helix intercooler at 13.5psi 63 degree ambient temps: 372whp +22whp, turbo outlet temperature 228 degrees F(estimated using a 63 degree ambient and 65% compressor efficiency at 13.5 psi). AIT temp- 75 degrees F - 54 degree drop over stock. Pre and post intercooler temp drop- 153 degrees F. Intercooler efficiency- 93% - 33% improvement in efficiency over stock. Core pressure drop spec is .5psi at 450hp (600cfm) airflow.
NOTE: N54's After 04/09 will need the Helix Charge Pipe. Included with N55 kits.
